Important Minecraft Username Changing

Starting tomorrow, February 4th, Mojang will allow you to change your minecraft username. Do not change your username until after you have read this complete post and understand all of the consequences. You will not receive any sympathy from the MutinyCraft staff if you choose to ignore this warning.

How to change your username

What you need to know:

mcMMO: You will lose all of your mcMMO stats and you will be an Outsider.

LWC: You will lose all of your locked items that have been locked previous to the 1.8 update.

What you can do if you still want to change your name:

mcMMO: There is nothing you can do about your mcMMO stats. You will need to start completely over at Citizen and work your way back up the ranks. When we have an updated version of mcMMO you will then be able to change your name and retain your stats.

LWC: Unlock all of your items (unless you know they were locked after the 1.8 update) and relock them with /lock

Man... As soon as MCMMO stops messing with us (which will be when all the great names will be taken) I may be able to grab a name change but the one I am interested in (which was open this morning) is gone now T_T

FYI it was Cyber, just plain Cyber.

Eh. Idk. Maybe an inactivity timer would be cool, so if accounts didnt join after a certain time (1-2 years?) they would become available for a name change so we could grab those old, old players from 2010 who bought the game and hated it.

#1 The fact that you shouldn't change your name was announced with little to no time for people to actually see before changing their name.
#2 Mojang announced this change many months ago, and recently gave an exact release date so there was plenty of time to do what needed to be done.
#3 This is the only server that has any sort of major repercussion due to name changing that I've encountered, I don't know why Mutiny wasn't prepared for this. If you were waiting on plugins to update then you should have switched plugins.

I'm just genuinely upset that I can't access the stuff I've been building up for over two and a half years, sorry but I won't be changing my name back for this.

It's not Jig's fault, he obviously just found out also. He made the post as soon as he could. It's not his fault, it's your own fault for not looking into what the name change could effect in game.

You're right. We knew months ago exactly which plugins were going to be ready by the time name changes came around. We should have sent someone to your house to personally tell you to maybe think to check the forums before you changed the name on the account you play on most often. Its our fault you didn't ask someone many months ago if name changing was going to mess things up with some of the plugins. Mojang did not give an exact date that this would be happening until a few months ago.

And you're right, we should have switched from LWC, unlocking everyone's things, just so that you could have a name change. We should switch from McMMO and delete everyone's stats. This is entirely our fault. Ill be sending you a check in the mail to recoup your losses and the emotional distress our actions caused you.

I'm sorry I have other commitments other than babysitting you to ensure you don't do something stupid.

This is not the only server that has this issue as I have been discussing this change with several server owners for many months on ways to handle this issue. MCMMO is updated to support UUID, but heeding a warning from a fellow server owner I did not update since he had all of his player's stats reset. If you haven't noticed by now I don't just update and cross my fingers that everything works. I test it multiple times to ensure the best experiences for the players. LWC is also updated (and does support UUIDs), but it requires a user to unlock their items and relock them (that is literally it). I also don't have $1,000s of dollars in donations to pay someone full time to administrate the server.

So, yes blame this on me if you want to be a selfish asshole. I don't mind. I should've let you know earlier. I'm a big boy and I can handle it.

There's no point to defending myself, think what you want, there were avoidable mistakes that were made and it cost me and plenty of other people that play on Mutiny and don't bother with the forums. I'm sure you will all rally behind your server owner which is fine, but denying that most of this could have been prevented is very close minded. I'm sure if some of you had "screwed up" like me by taking advantage of a highly anticipated new feature, then you'd be able to see where I come from. Anyway, I hope Mutiny is better off without me. Lastly I'd like for someone to take over warp xp (Make sure everything is stocked, anvils are set and collection chests are emptied). Its pretty much the only good thing I've gave to the community so it'd be nice if it remained free and didn't get forgotten. That's pretty much it, oh and if one of you decides to change their name to my previous one and take all my stuff you're an asshole >:C
