[Glitch] mcMMO XP from Mob Spawners

Recently it has been brought to my attention that there is a serious glitch that has to do with mob spawners and mcmmo. The glitch allows players to earn mcmmo xp from lethal mob spawners when they would normally earn nothing. This is not in regards to minecraft XP that you use for enchanting. This is mcmmo xp that you earn to rank up.

What is the glitch?

It really doesn't matter how the glitch works. The only thing that you should be aware of is that you have to purposely know what you are doing in order to abuse this glitch. That means you do not have to worry about accidentally doing this glitch and getting banned. There are certain steps that must be taken and now that I know how it works it is very obvious who is doing this willingly to cheat.

If you have been doing anything purposely to allow you to gain xp from mobs that spawn from a mob spawner that is glitch abuse and it is likely what I am talking about here. I suggest you immediately stop what you were doing and continue reading this post.

What if I abused this glitch?

If you abused this glitch the best thing to do is send me a private message on the forum explaining that you abused this glitch and you would like to come clean. If you come to me before I find out I will not ban you and I will guarantee you that. If I have already talked with you in game you do not need to message me again. The punishment you were given is all that you will receive.

There is no reason to talk about how to do this with other players. If I see people discussing how you do this glitch you will likely be banned for attempted glitch abuse. That means if you know how to do this glitch just keep it to yourself and do not abuse it or you will likely be banned.

Why is it such a big deal?

This glitch allows players to earn skills faster than normal by taking advantage of the high spawn rates that mob spawners allow. If you are working hard to earn your stats legitimately only to find out other people have been earning theirs by cheating, wouldn't you be upset? This server should be kept as fair as possible and people with unfair advantages that are gained by abusing glitches will be dealt with accordingly.

You should actually confirm what you have heard before you come on here and make such a rude post. Both of these players were dealt with in a fair manner. Instead of just outright banning everyone who has done this (which I have every right to do and probably should have thinking back) I gave players an option to reset their stats or face a ban. If you would have taken 10 seconds to look at the ban appeals you would see Jthomas chose to be banned. Even though this doesn't concern you, he still had some of his stats rolled back and now he had a ban for glitch abuse under his name (not really the best thing to have). Evan told me he would rather have his taming reset to 0 and that is what his punishment was, end of story.

Xaviar, you are completely off base with your comments and I do not appreciate them at all. You have shown a mass amount of disrespect for no reason when I have tried to explain everything as best as I could in the first post. This is completely unacceptable and I will not tolerate it on this server or forum. You have been temp banned for 2 days.

Can you read the post I made? I said don't ask how this works. If you are gaining mcmmo xp from mob spawners by purposely doing something to make sure you gain xp you are glitching and will be banned. If you are not doing this do not worry about how you do it.

 

Yes, I was doing it, I never realized it was a glitch. A lot of other people did it, and I thought it was an accepted method because of how many people were talking about it out in the open. Even an SA didn't see a problem when I was talking directly to them. I feel really bad now that Ive found out it was illega, and I'm sorry, but glad you understood.

 

Anyone who actually thought about it for 2 minutes could come to the conclusion that it was a glitch. If you purposely have to do something in order for you to gain mcmmo xp when normally you would not then it probably is a glitch. This doesn't take much common sense and I am extremely tired of people using the excuse that "I didn't know!". Whoever that SA is, he/she should be ashamed of themselves for not bringing this to me right away and even more so for thinking it was okay to do. The very fact that no one asked me about this tells me you knew it wasn't allowed. I suggest you stop making excuses because I am tired of hearing them.

If anyone thinks I am overreacting to this that is fine with me. I will do everything in my power to make sure this server is as fair as possible. It doesn't matter to me if you have played here for 1 day or 2 years or even if you donate $500. If you break a rule you are going to get punished just like anyone else.

A little common sense can go a long ways.

Lets not turn this thread into the blame game. If you want to talk with me in private, like Kons has said, feel free to message me. Everyone, regardless of rank, will be held accountable if they abused this glitch.

If you have any questions please post them here. This isn't really the place to discuss who did what and why any further than we already have. People make mistakes and I realize that. We can all move on after the proper punishment is handed out. I don't hold grudges and I wont form an opinion on someone just from one mistake.

I'm going to start reviewing all the logs from the past few weeks. I am confident I will find 90% of the people who have abused this glitch. I highly suggest you come forward if you are still waiting to see if you can luck out and not get caught.
